Chocolate Avocado Mousse

A deep chocolate dessert made with whole ingredients, like avocado, banana, and coconut yogurt. It's creamy, rich, and healthy, too!

Get ready for one of my favorite, chocolate-y dessert recipes! If you love chocolate and want a healthier dessert, you're going to love this one.

It's packed with healthy fats, and you can even add protein by mixing in protein powder, like unflavored Vital Proteins collagen powder! This has been really helpful for my clients who want a dessert that is satisfying and that won't spike their blood sugar too much.

A little goes a long way because it's THAT satisfying. A serving of 1/4–1/2 cup can be enough to hit your sweet tooth!

Chocolate Mousse Topping Ideas

It's good as is, or if you want to get real fancy, here are some topping ideas:

  • Cacao nibs and salt
    Fresh berries, like raspberries or strawberries

  • Homemade cream, like whipped coconut cream or a dollop of the yogurt you used in the recipe

Ingredients

1 Small banana; not too ripe
2 Medium/large avocados; not too ripe
1/2 C Coconut yogurt, unsweetened, full fat (recommend Coyo or CocoJune brand)
1 scoop Protein powder, optional (i.e. unflavored collagen protein)
3 Tbsp Cacao powder, heaping
1/2 tsp Vanilla extract
2 Tbsp Maple syrup or other sweeter to taste*
1/4 tsp Salt (or to taste)

Recipe Steps

  1. Put first four ingredients in a food processor or high-speed blender and puree. This will make it easier to blend in the other ingredients.

  2. Add the rest of the ingredients and blend. Adjust sweetener, salt, and cacao to get it exactly how you want it. And enjoy!

Notes

*Use sweetener of choice. I like maple syrup best because it is a less-processed, natural sugar and blends well. Or, for a sugar-free option, I like Lakanto monkfruit sweetner

** Store in an air-tight container. May keep for 4 days.
